Geschichte „Nach einigen buddhistischen Überlieferungen wurde der Tantrismus von dem Madhyamika-Meister Nagarjuna (2. Jahrhundert v. Chr.) in Südindien mündlich eingeführt. Aryadeva, Nagarjunas wichtigster Schüler, soll die tantrischen Lehren von seinem Meister in Sriparvata erhalten haben. Anschließend besiegte er in einer Debatte einen brahmanischen Tantristen oder Tlrthika namens Maticitra. Andere Überlieferungen besagen, dass das Tantra von
tib. རྡོ་རྗེ་འཆང། (Dorje Chang). In der Lehre der Nyingmapas ist Dorje Chang der Samboghakaya-Aspekt des Urbuddha (Samantabhadra, tibet. Kun tu bzang po). In der Lehre der neuen tibetischen Schulen (Sakya, Gelug, Kagyü) ist Dorje Chang der Wurzellama des Mahamudra und Manifestiation des Urbuddha. Die „Verwirklichung von Dorje Chang“ ist eine Beschreibung für die vollständige Realisation.
