manasikāra

manaskāra. [alt. manasikāra] (P. manasikāra; T. yid la byed pa; C. zuoyi; J. sai; K. chagŭi 作意). In Sanskrit „geistiges Engagement“ oder „Aufmerksamkeit“; ein allgemeiner Begriff für geistige Aktivität, Konzentration oder Aufmerksamkeit, mit mindestens zwei technischen Bedeutungen: als eine der fünf allgegenwärtigen (SARVATRAGA) oder sieben universellen (P. sabbacittasādhāraṇa) geistigen Begleiterscheinungen (CAITTA) ist sie der Faktor, der den Geist auf ein bestimmtes Objekt lenkt; im Prozess der Entwicklung von Ruhe oder Gelassenheit (ŚAMATHA) gibt es vier Stufen von zunehmend kraftvollem und kontinuierlichem geistigen Engagement mit dem Objekt der Konzentration.
